“For the spa of the Dolder Grand in Zurich, golden doves rise up to form a contemporary Christmas tree. Floating from the ceiling, it unfolds its effect in the slightest breeze, in the steps of a guest – a delicate shimmer sets it in motion, like a softly murmuring swarm. 1,200 hand-folded origami doves create an image of peace. The gold of the birds represents thoughts, dreams, and projects that will take shape in the new year – a symbol of infinite creative potential. Carried by red threads, this installation lends strength and joy to the festive season.”
During the festive season, the Belgian designer Charles Kaisin transforms the spa area of the Dolder Grand into a floating composition of 1,200 golden origami doves. The suspended figures form the silhouette of a contemporary Christmas tree, which gently sways with every movement – a silent dance of hope and new beginnings. The golden doves represent ideas, dreams and the projects of the coming year. Carried by red threads, the installation becomes a symbol of the festive season: powerful, peaceful and full of lightness.
Kaisin, internationally renowned for his works at the intersection of design, art, and architecture, integrates origami as a central element of his art. With his installation at the Dolder Grand, he creates a festive symbol full of lightness, peace and inspiration.
The implementation of Charles Kaisin’s artistic installation is accompanied by the in-house floristry team. During the festive season, they decorate the entire hotel. The Steinhalle features a six-metre-high Christmas tree, decorated with 3,500 bordeaux-red spheres. In the Canvas Bar & Lounge, Christmas ornaments surround the stone fireplace, while a Christmas tree adorned with lights and an orange bow adds a festive accent to the room.
