Zurich has an exceptionally high number of lakeside and riverside bathing spots. Especially during the summer months, they are part of everyday life for many Zurich residents. Some even combine their commute with a swim in the Limmat – depending on the route, with or against the current.
The fact that this is possible in the middle of the city contributes to Zurich’s distinctive quality of life.

The Oberer Letten and Unterer Letten river baths are located in the city centre. Oberer Letten features a 400-metre swimming channel; admission is free of charge. Also centrally located is the Schanzengraben men’s bath. During the day, it is a quiet place to swim; in the evening, it becomes the popular Rimini Bar.
The women’s bath at Stadthausquai is reserved for women during the day and opens as Barfussbar in the evening. From here, the view extends across the Limmat and the Old Town. Just a few hundred metres away, Seebad Utoquai is located directly on Lake Zurich – a classic among Zurich’s summer bathing spots.
For a relaxed morning or afternoon close to the Dolder Grand, the Dolder Wellenbad offers an outdoor pool with a spacious sunbathing lawn, a 50-metre pool, a paddling pool and a separate children’s pool with a sun sail.
