The city of Zurich is known for its high drinking water quality. The water is strictly monitored and regularly tested. Each year, Wasserversorgung Zürich analyses more than 10000 samples from waterworks and the distribution network. In addition, independent cantonal laboratories verify the quality and review the work of the water suppliers.
In spring, the historic fountains of Zurich’s Old Town also come into focus. Several fountains around the Old Town churches are decorated with thousands of roses. The colourful blossoms create a seasonal contrast to the stone fountain structures and turn the squares around the churches into a special destination for a stroll.
Sustainability is also considered when selecting the flowers. The roses come from two family run farms in Ecuador that operate under Fair Trade conditions. The greenhouses use solar energy and irrigation is carried out with rainwater.
