The 8 April 2018 is reserved for the city’s most important occasion, Sechseläuten, which kicks off with a parade of the guilds to Sechseläutenplatz. At 6.00 p.m., a bonfire is set alight and the “Böögg” – a snowman made of papier mâché – is placed on top of it and left to meet his fate.

Züri Fäscht

From 5 to 7 July 2019 the lower basin of Lake Zurich is transformed into one big party venue: for three days, hundreds of thousands of visitors celebrate the “Züri Fäscht” in the parks on both sides of the lake.


On 10 August 2019 Zurich is going to be transformed into a Mecca for ravers. The Street Parade is thought to be the world’s biggest techno parade, and brings around one million electro enthusiasts to the lower basin of the lake every summer.

Zürcher Theater Spektakel

For over two decades, Zurich has hosted the avant-garde of the international theatre scene on the Landiwiese on the west bank of the lake at the end of every summer. From 15 August until 1 September 2019 the diverse and varied programme is supplemented by free performances by countless street artists – as well as a wide selection of culinary treats with specialities from all over the world.

Long Night of the Zurich Museums

Every year on the first Saturday of September, an impressive variety of Zurich museums open their doors just as darkness falls. As well as the usual museum collections and exhibitions, visitors can also enjoy a diverse programmes. One night is just too short to do everything!
